Ministry Team

Reverend Mike Marsden

The Rev. Mike Marsden is our lead minister.  Mike was called to minister at Knox in 2007, after having served as the Associate Minister for nearly six years.

Deeply committed to Knox he derives his mandate for Ministry from the words of the Apostle Paul in Ephesians 4:11-13, where Paul states that God ‘gave some to pastors and teachers to prepare God’s people for the work of ministry,‘   This ‘ministry’ is a shared calling for the purpose of building up the church so that it might become more like Christ.  Here at Knox we value ministry that comes through recognizing, developing, and using the gifts with which we have been individually blessed.  We value our mission to develop empowered and loving Disciples of Christ.”

Reverend Jacqui Foxall, Associate Minister

Jacqui began her ministry as a Minister of Word and Sacrament at Knox Oakville in the summer of 2009 but even before taking this call, Jacqui was dedicated to the work of ministry in many roles, particularly in the area of Christian Education.

In addition to co-leading in worship and all other pastoral responsibilities, Rev. Jacqui’s calling at Knox Oakville involves oversight of ministry to children, youth and families within the church. Her heart’s desire is to foster an environment where people of all ages and stages in their faith journey eagerly seek out worship and fellowship within a community of faith in order to grow in their relationship with Christ. Fueling this passion is the words of Deuteronomy 6:4-7: Hear, O Israel: The Lord is our God, the Lord alone. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might. Keep these words that I am commanding you today in your heart. Recite them to your children and talk about them when you are at home and when you are away, when you lie down and when you rise.  Developing loving and empowered disciples begins with a rootedness in the presence of God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  Whether in worship, Bible study, youth events, team meetings, Sunday school classes, or casual get-togethers, the people of God are always pressing on towards the goal of becoming more like Jesus as they journey together in faith as the Body of Christ.

Mrs. Janice McKay, Children’s Ministries Coordinator

Janice has been a member at Knox Oakville for 25 years, and in that time has been active in her roles as Church School Teacher, Nursery Volunteer,  Elder, and Leading With Care Team member to name a few!  For the role of Children's Ministries Coordinator, Janice brings her talents and wealth of experience working with children. This has been gained personally from her 28 years as a parent and professionally as a Physiotherapist and more recently as an Educator,  working with students with special needs.  To be blessed with the gifts and opportunity to work with the children and their families at Knox, Janice gives thanks to our Lord.

As Children’s Ministries Coordinator, Janice is responsible for overseeing Sunday morning programs for all children, birth to grade five. With the goal of ensuring a safe, welcoming  environment for children’s spiritual growth and development at Knox,  she provides  volunteer teacher/nursery scheduling and support, program curriculum implementation and clean, safe classrooms/nursery.

Mrs. Jess Foy, Youth Leader

Jessica grew up attending Knox Presbyterian, Dundas and was heavily involved in their youth ministry programs during her teen years.  This is where her spark for youth ministry turned into a roaring fire.  She participated in leadership through music, drama, youth group and worship committees.  Outside of regular worship, she had an executive role on the Southwestern Ontario Presbyterian Young People's Society (PYPS) as secretary, vice-convenor, convenor, past-convenor and missions representative.  Jessica also spent summers on staff with the Summer Experience program, Camp Kintail and Glen Mhor Camp.

After attending the University of Waterloo for a Bachelor of Arts in Social Development Studies, Religious Studies and a Social Work certificate; Jessica worked as the part-time youth leader for South Gate and Chalmers.  After two years in this position she longed for a greater role and took on the part-time Director of Child and Youth Ministries position at Erskine for three years.  While in her position at Erskine, Jessica was able to attend the Princeton Forums on Youth Ministry and in her third year was able to complete her Certificate in Youth and Theology.  Throughout this time, Jessica was also a part-time Library Technician with the Hamilton Public Library leading children's programs.  In the fall of 2010, Jessica responded to her call and began her Masters of Divinity studies at Knox College.

As Youth Leader at Knox Oakville, Jess will be responsible for Sunday morning programming for our Youth (grades 6-12), as well as partnering with the Youth Leadership Team in the development and implementation of mid-week activities, such as the HOLY RUCKUS and HOLY CHOW events.
